Use this checklist to make sure your website is optimized for search engines and ready to rank.
Start with the Wix SEO Setup Tool
Go to Dashboard → Marketing & SEO → SEO Tools
Click "Get Started" under the SEO Setup Checklist
Enter Your Business Info
Add your Business Name (match this with your logo & homepage title)
Add your Business Location
Physical address(es) if local (can add up to 5)
Or select “online business” if no physical location
Choose up to 3 keywords/phrases that describe your business
Example: “Los Angeles Realtor”, “Luxury Home Sales”, “Bay Area Real Estate”
Homepage Optimization
Customize your Homepage Title Tag
Keep it under 60 characters
Include your main keyword
Example: Luxury Homes in San Diego | Keller Williams Agent
Write a Homepage Meta Description
Max 160 characters
Include keywords and a compelling call to action
Example: Buy or sell your dream home in San Diego with expert local guidance.
Ensure your keyword appears naturally on the homepage (in text)
Design for Mobile
Use the Wix Mobile Editor to check responsiveness
Ensure buttons, menus, and text are readable and usable on small screens
Improve Site Content
Add your business contact info (preferably in footer or contact page)
Connect social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Add internal links to guide users to key pages (like “Search Homes,” “About,” or “Schedule a Consultation”)
Use headings correctly (H1 for main titles, H2 for subheadings, etc.)
Connect to Google
Upgrade to a Wix Premium Plan and connect your domain
Use Wix SEO Setup to automatically connect to Google Search Console
Submit your sitemap in Google Search Console (Wix does this for you, but double-check it's verified)
Optional SEO Boosters
Create a blog and post regularly using relevant keywords
Add alt text to every image (especially listings and hero images)
Set up 301 redirects for any removed or renamed pages
Add structured data (Wix does this automatically for some site types)
Ongoing SEO Tips
Monitor traffic with Google Analytics
Track performance using Google Search Console
Review and update content every few months
Collect and showcase Google Reviews (especially for local SEO)
